Fl Laws fishing near docks/marinas

Hey all, its been a while since I've been out fishing but talking with a buddy who's son was recently runoff by marina staff for fishing "too close" to someones dock from a kayak. I know I've had a few instances with unhappy dock owners asking me to fish elsewhere. Every time it's happened to me I u...

Re: “Essential” rigging ?

Essentials for me? Good pair of fish grips, a tool (looks like pliars) for cutting braid/line, Bug spray, sunblock, Doa and gulp soft artificials, 1/8 ounce jigs, cooler for my catch, flourocarbon leader, 2 fishing poles. If have these items, im pretty much set! :)

Re: Shore fishing with kiddos

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Im in San Marco but usually yak off hecksher Dr. I didnt think about kayak amelia and their dock. I even see some people pulled off the road but prefer to have toilets, drinks etc. Think that'll be best for our first trip. Thanks again!

Re: How Many Rods/Reels Do You Take With You?

I bring 3. One for live bait, one artificial, one as a backup... 4 gets a bit crowded for my small boat.

Re: New to kayak fishing

Welcome back to Jax. I am by no means an expert yak fisherman, but I kind of compare kayaks to cars. There are so many different types and depending on your needs not so easy to answer your question. Can I fish out of just about anything that floats? You bet. But I have been doimg this about 10 year...

Kayaking with the kiddos

I'm hoping to hear some good recommendations from you all. I have been fishing out of a Hobie Mirage drive kayak the past 10 years or so. I am ecstatic that my six year old daughter has the itch to go fishing with her old man. However, I'd like to get her on the water rather than fishing from the sh...

Miami fishing

So planning a summer family vacation to Miami in early August. Anyone have any advice on where I can learn about the local fishing? We are staying on hibiscus island, near Miami beach. Im going to leave the kayak and just rent a boat while I'm down there. I'm not sure if the fishing is similar to No...

Re: Hobie Mirage leak

Thanks for the replies. Sunday I gave the kayak a detailed inspection and sure enough, I found a small crack in the drive area. The crack is super small so m hoping a repair can be made. I'll keep you all posted. I'm going to try to get the boat to BCO this weekend.
