Re: Save Guana

The guana outpost property has been contentious for years. It's owned by Peyton, the reason we have guana in the first place. So you have to consider that in balance with the fact that 8,000 acres was already set aside. The outpost is a nice piece of property, but no where near as valuable as what's...

Re: CLC self build kits.

I built CLC 16's from plans. Why? I figured because I was building two, there was economies of scale, so I chose plans over kit. In retrospect, plans or kit, it was a lot of work. IIRC, I bought the kit for the hatches, which was a good call for the small pieces. It'd be tough to jigsaw. A lot of th...

Re: Solo Skiff Owners Group - Face Book

One thing I have noticed about the Solo Skiffs, is that the posts talking about how wonderful they are, outnumber the posts about ACTUALLY CATCHING SOME FISH by about a thousand to one.  :bounce:   Not gonna lie.... my kayak catches more fish. But having a motor is so much darn...

Re: Solo Skiff Rigging

Does that location interfere with paddling at all for you? I'm wondering if a small sea anchor off the bow would have allowed you to drift bow to the waves or would the tide not allow that? After taking some big wake waves with mine under power, I can see how some hand holds mounted to the seat are...

Re: Solo Skiff Rigging

I was all set on getting a Power Pole Micro, but was scared of the aft mount/ pivot on the stern. Recently, with a north wind, fishing docks south of San Marco , the waves were "flooding" the solo. I was sitting on the seat/box and every "big wave" would flood the sole/cockpit. I was drifting, and l...

Re: Solo Skiff Rigging

Once I get that squared away I'll probably fab up the retention cord for the motor. Kayak Doctor Clark installed a stainless steel eyelet on the transom for me and I just bought a couple of feet of plastic coated steel wire to secure the motor to the transom. Next HH, somebody remind me to tell the...

Re: Guana Empty

Hearing you say that makes me want to wait till they raise the water level again. I believe someone stated they drained the lake a bit a few months ago for cleaning or something like that. Have no fear, the water level in Guana is "up" right now. Starting Wednesday, you'll have to launch from the d...
