Re: “Essential” rigging ?
If you need a GPS not to get lost in a kayak on a day trip best to stay in sight of the ramp.

Re: First time at Guana; Have a few questions
The dam was probably running(letting water in) which is why they were catching at the dam. That said when the dam runs it can throw the bite off in the south end of the lake. Also don't be scared to sight fish the shallow east side of the lake. You will see aggressive feeding fish throwing wakes and...

Re: Help needed for my old polar bear cooler
I know many of you used frozen bottles or "ice packs" but in my experience the is no substitute for using real ice to properly cool and store your catch if your out more than an hour or two. Especially when you have more than one fish in the box. Also properly iced fish are much easier to clean.

Re: Guana Lake suggestions
Its hard not to catch fish at Guana. Early in the morning pole around looking for fish feeding and cast to them. As the sun warms up switch to blue crab, live mullet, and or live shrimp soaked in deeper holes. Dont think you have to fish the grass edges to catch fish find areas with shell bottom or ...

Re: Juvenile Lane Snapper
Pretty cool catch Clark. I would love to find a spot to catch legal mangroves inshore as they eat so good. The mangrove snapper was one of the first fish to get me hooked on fishing. They were easy game from most docks in the area I grew up in.

Re: Guana lake?? Alligators!!
I accidentally snagged a 8' gator that was resting on the bottom in Guana a few years back. We were both just as startled and had the same desire to get away from each other as it touched the bottom of my kayak. You live in Florida just give the gators there space and they will do the same for you.

Re: Anyone know what's going on in Guana, plus non yak repor
I watched this same thing happening. The stand of pine trees they are cutting are some of the tallest most beautiful on the Guana shore line. Makes me upset too. I spend a good bit of time out there on the lake and I almost went to shore to ask just what exactly they were doing? While down on Mickle...
