My wife has been driving me crazy about getting her a miniature dachshund lately. I may soon be making reports similar to yours! LOL

Re: Slayer Propel Drive vs Mirage 180v2?

One more point to make......If you do hear of anyone making the complaint/comment that the Hobie is hard to shift into reverse please let them know that if you pedal while pulling the shifting lever it takes much less effort to achieve the shift and that the drives loosen up over time to the point w...

Re: Slayer Propel Drive vs Mirage 180v2?

Word on the street is that Hobie is already working on a "fix" for the issue. The Mirage Drive (180 or older) is a more efficient design than the propeller powered drives. I believe that is due to the greater surface area on the fins versus the blade surface area on any of the propeller driven yaks....

Re: Custom Mirage Drive Kayaks? Looking for Lighter Weight

The only non-Hobie company that I know that has ever manufactured a hull that will accept a Mirage Drive is Santa Cruz kayaks here in California. Their Raptor hull has a Mirage drive well. I believe they recently went out of business as I know the company was up for sale recently and selling off all...

Re: Any Long Term Reviews of the Mirage 180??

Long Term Reviews probably aren't possible quite yet as the drive has only been out for a little less than a year. I've had mine since spring and absolutely love them. I have a 2017 camo Pro Angler 14 with the MD180 as well as a 2017 camo Outback with the MD180. I fish every weekend and several afte...

Re: late TR, Big Pine Key and the Dry Tortugas

I so do miss my college days trips down to the Dry Tortugas!! I dated a girl from Fort Myers all through college and we would take her 31 foot custom sailboat down there for almost a month at a time! We had a compressor onboard to recharge our dive tanks and would trade cheap beer for ice with the t...

Re: Three from the Lake

Fantastic read and even better "eats"!! I know that I am one that fishes in the fast lane currently but as I get older I am seeing myself getting more and more enjoyment from just spending time on the water. I'm a tournament angler though and there's nothing that gets the adrenaline pumping more for...

I always enjoyed reading your stories on here when I lived in Jacksonville and even now with me living in California nothing has changed. You have quite a skill at telling stories!

Re: Rodman reservoir

A Booyah Baits Pad Crasher Frog fished around the pads is always exciting early in the mornings. You could also try a Zoom Horny Toad in Green Pumpkin fished on a 5/0 60 degree screw lock hook and reel it on the surface around and through the pads. This is an easy way to cover water to find fish in ...

Re: Rodman reservoir

Lots of trees, matted hydrilla, underwater stump fields, and a good amount of alligators! LOL The fishing there is pretty good once you find them. The entire reservoir looks fishy so it may take some time to get on the fish. What species are you going for?

Re: Flounder Gigging off a kayak

I made several trips gigging flounder from my Pro Angler 14 when I was in Jax. I just used a 12ft aluminum gig with a trident head on it and a handheld spotlight. I put a group 27 battery in the tank well and stood with gig in one hand and spotlight in the other. The nice thing about the salt is tha...

Re: Kayak Fishing Louisiana

You need to get registered on BCKFC.com. They should have all the information you could ever need. If it were me I'd be on Craigslist and the Louisiana Sportsman classified section looking for a camp to rent. Grand Isle is probably your best bet if you're looking to go for a sleigh ride from big bul...

Re: Double Donut Lake

My oldest son and I made that trip a few years ago. Had a great time and caught plenty of bass but none were very big. If you're looking for big fish there are better options. If you want numbers of fish up to around 2.5lbs then you're headed to the right spot! It's beautiful back there but it's a s...

A buddy of mine landed a 60lb wahoo at 9 mile this morning while kingfishing! Lots of goodies out there in the ocean and none of them really know the rules! LOL
