Boat builders in Jax. area.

Looking for a large 16'-18' skiff. Bare bones, none of the stupid frills found on today's "BAY Boats." I want a boat to fish OUT off, not OFF of. I'm darn near 80 and my balance and mobility isn't what it once was. I'd really like a bare hull to finish the way I think a boat should be. I am an opini...

Re: Looking for a piece of property to build my last home on

Obviously, Jaxcreek, you have never been fishing on a truly bad day. I can tell you for certain that is better sitting on the hill, wishing you were fishing than sitting in/on the water, praying you will make it to dry land. "Been there, done that," more than once.

Found another kayak paddle today in Yankeetown.

Identify by telling me the brand and color. (brand is on the blades) I heard it hit the road but vehicles were passing in both directions so I didn't know which way to go and it took me at least 3 minutes to get ready to follow. But, which way? It must have been around 3 pm so, most likely the guy w...

Looking for a piece of property to build my last home on

My son and family moved to Green Cove Springs and will be there at least 8 years. I'm pretty old and my wife and I are just about to get to old to maintain our property in Crystal River.. I'd like to buy a half acre within 20 miles or so of Green Cove and build a tiny home, just for the two of us. S...

Jax Boat show today (Saturday)

I drove from Crystal River to Greencove Springs last night for the show today. My son and his family moved over there in December. This ws my first visit. We got to the show early. We stayed less than 2 hours. We saw only 3 boats that were of much interest to either of us and we all agreed that the ...

Re: Nature Coast Aquatic Preserve Initiative

Obviously you haven't been here long. Water quality in Crystal River has gone so far down hill that I'd never considering swimming in it. King's Bay receives the effluent of the Crystal River sewer plant and the muck on the bottom in the bay is beyond foul. Oyster bars off the mouth of the Withlacoo...

What gives with Realtors in Jax area?

My son is in Afghanistan but is returning soon. He will be stationed at Camp Blanding. My daughter in law and I went to the Greencove Springs area to look at a home in the Royal Pointe subdivision. This is a 3 hour (each way) drive for us. When we got there, we quickly found out that something was w...

Re: Transferred to Camp Blanding--where to look for home?

Ever hear of Edgewater Landing? I think it is a new sub. in the Green Cove Springs area. Elevation really concerns me. Flood zones are not my bag. I'd love to live on a mountain on the seashore with miles of woods out my back door. Throw in a Trout stream while you are at it. New Zealand comes to mi...

Re: Lost my gear when I capsized. Trying to locate any of it

I always carry too much tackle, especially in new areas or when multiple species are a possibility. In a lot of years of yakin, I never flipped a yak. I sure can't say the same for Pirogues, though. Know your yak's stability. If I have a paddle in my hand, I can't imagine flipping a Malibu Mini-X. I...

Re: Total knee replacement surgery-SLEEP problems

Consider medical marijuana. My wife has a prescription and it is an absolute God send. She has degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, typhosis and Fibromyalgia. When we met, 28 years ago, she was 5'6". Now she is 4'9". Yeah, she has lost 9" in height. Soon, she is going to have 4 ribs removed to help...

Transferred to Camp Blanding--where to look for home?

Any suggestions. Young family with a grade school grandson and Jr High Granddaughter. Close proximity of good schools preferred. Safe area a must. Whole family avid fisherpersons. Of course, this isn't for me. I'm older than dirt. My son and his family will be moving real soon. We just found out. I ...

Check Your Law Stick. Fishing Tip #188, book 2.

Fishing Tip 188. Book # 2. Check your “LAW STICK.” Fishing regulations seem to change about twice a month in Florida these days. Check your law stick and make corrections. Use a “Sharpie” to make corrections. Previous corrections can be removed with fingernail polish remover. Make sure you wash the ...
