Re: Palm Valley...
I'm in the same boat. I've been launching at the new Nocatee Landing and fishing mostly north of Pine Island. Very little to show for several trips. Mostly using live bait but also some artificials. Some of the places look very fishy but I just haven't figured them pout yet. I know there are some ot...

Re: Trailer build and anchor trolley install
As for painting the trailer - If it is galvanized steel, try to preserve as much of the galvanizing as possible. If you are dealing with bare steel, and any steel you exposed if it is galvanized, prime it with some zinc-rich primer. With any spray paint, shake the can a lot and often, and use light ...

Re: Securing Kayak To Roof
Whenever I use my car instead of the truck I bring along a folding step stool or platform to stand on. I'm not using J racks but I have to reach over the kayak to get the fixed strap after putting the boat in the cradles.

Re: Is a depth finder worth it?
I have one, and it is helpful for learning structure, but not really for finding fish. Mine is a monochrome Humminbird - I think the cheapest one they sell. No GPS or other frills. It uses very little power. In fact I power it with 10 AA Eneloop brand rechargeable batteries. I bought a 10-cell AA ba...

We all get skunked every once in a while - me more than most! I could write a book about it, but I don't think it would sell.... Seriously, the record you claim is pretty darn good, and I have no reason to doubt you. What you have accomplished hasn't been all luck. It came from somewhere. Take joy f...

Re: Palm Valley Boat Ramp launch and Suggestions
MP4- I've been having some of the same issues for about a year now. I've had some limited success by going further south - it's about 1.5 to 2 miles I think to the first channel marker, but there are several fishable creeks and flats once you get that far south. But most of my catch has been small. ...

Re: Oyster Rash with tiny leak in kayak. How to repair?
I have found that if you can have the kayak upside down and use a water hose to lightly spray the inside, you can keep the heat down and help prevent the thin parts from collapsing. You really only need to melt the very surface and get the filler material just to the gooey stage - maybe a little dri...

Re: Annual sales at Black Creek Outfitters?
It's been awhile since I bought a new kayak from BCO, but I found them to be reasonable when presented with a confirmed competitive offer. especially considering the service they provide. Having someone on your side if you have an issue has some value. it never hurts to ask them directly.

Re: Seminar Time : finding fish utilizing search baits
Great session today. I've got a few more tricks to try the next time out. Also, that was my first time at St. Augustine Paddle Sports - looks like a great tackle shop, and I'll be back there for sure.
Thanks, Tim!

Re: Boots, shoes, socks in creek mud
In cold weather I use some (so-called) waterproof socks (forgot the name - Sealz maybe?) and I have some oversize strap on sandals, like Tevas. This mud can conceal all sorts of hazards that a real shoe sole can protect you from. I sunk in the mud one time and lost my flip-flop, then lost my balance...

Re: Jacksonville changes?
Well, I can tell you I am waiting for some cooler weather. I moved to Nocatee this summer and have been exploring the Palm Valley area, but I need to paddle a couple of miles to get to some creeks that look interesting and fishy. I also need some time to figure out the tides and such. Early mornings...

Re: Transferred to Camp Blanding--where to look for home?
The area from Oak Leaf Plantation around to Fleming Island is a good start, with ready access to some beautiful fresh water. (I would avoid the Blanding Blvd corridor, though - lots of traffic and all commercial.) If salt water is a must, he'll have a long drive to work. St. Johns County schools may...

Re: I can't stop upgrading!
Dude! Get busy! Drill some holes and take some pics! I love making my vessels different from anyone else's. And I like seeing other people's mods, hacks, and upgrades. Better yet is seeing someone else's solution, and tweaking it to fit my needs.
